About Marcus

I blew up two accounts before I built a system.

In 2011 I turned $30K of savings into $4K in eight months. That failure became the foundation: I spent two years journaling every trade, cut my strategy list from twelve to two, and rebuilt around risk-first momentum setups. By 2015 I was full-time; by 2019 I'd added the CFP® designation because I watched too many traders win the market and lose the wealth — no plan for taxes, drawdowns, or the day they stop trading. Today I run both sides: the fast money, traded live every morning, and the slow money, managed the boring fiduciary way.

Fee-only planning for people who trade.

Most advisors don't understand trader income — lumpy, taxed brutally, and one bad quarter from zero. I build plans around exactly that: quarterly tax strategy, trader tax status elections, and a "slow money" portfolio that compounds while you sleep.

  • Comprehensive financial plan + quarterly reviews
  • Trader tax status & mark-to-market guidance
  • Retirement, insurance & estate coordination
  • Flat annual fee — I never touch commissions

The honest odds

Most day traders lose money.
Let's start there.

Academic studies consistently find that only 10–15% of day traders are profitable over time. Anyone selling you certainty is selling you something else. Here's how I handle that reality:

📉Losses, published

My worst months (−$14.2K in Sep 2022) are on the chart above, permanently. If a mentor hides drawdowns, they're marketing — not teaching.

🧾Results, audited

Broker statements are reviewed by an independent CPA and available to any prospective client on request. "Trust me" is not a compliance framework.

🚪Permission to quit

Part of my mentorship is telling roughly a third of students that day trading isn't their edge — and moving them to the slow-money plan instead. That's the fiduciary habit.

★★★★★

"Eight months in the room and my journal finally looks like a business, not a casino log. Green 5 of the last 6 months — but honestly the 2R daily cap is what saved my account."

"Marcus restructured my trader tax mess — mark-to-market election alone saved me $31K last year. First advisor I've met who actually understands lumpy income."

"He told me to stop day trading. Seriously. Moved me to the long-term plan, and I'm sleeping again. Who talks themselves out of a subscription? A fiduciary does."

FAQ

Questions I actually get.

Yes. Monthly broker statements are reviewed by Hartley & Voss CPA, and prospective clients can request the audit letter and redacted statements before paying anything. I built the business on this because the industry is drowning in photoshopped P&L screenshots.

Statistically, most day traders lose money — and I won't pretend a subscription changes the math by itself. What I can promise: you'll see a real process, you'll have hard risk limits, and if it's clearly not working, I'll tell you directly and help you shift to a long-term strategy.

I'm paid one transparent flat fee by you — never commissions, kickbacks, or product incentives — and I'm legally obligated to act in your best interest. If a product doesn't help you, I have zero reason to recommend it.

That's actually the flagship setup — fast money and slow money under one roof. Bundled clients get the mentorship included with the advisory retainer, and we review both sides in the same quarterly meeting.

Realistically: $5–10K you can afford to lose entirely, 2 hours every morning, and 6–12 months of patience for the learning curve. If any of those three is missing, start with the portfolio strategy service instead — the market will still be here when you're ready.
